PURPOSE:To quickly eliminate the concentration difference of an electrolyte inside a battery by arranging a resistor which generates heat by passing current through it in the upper part, from a plate group, of a separator. CONSTITUTION:A resistor 4 is arranged in the upper part, from a plate group, of a porous separator 3, and covered with a resin having acid resistance. When current is passed through the resistor 4 arranged in the separator, heat is generated, and water in this part is evaporated to increase the concentration. The moisture evaporated dilutes concentrated sulfuric acid based on two mechanisms. One is that concentrated sulfuric acid has low vapor pressure and absorbs water vapor by its water absorbing ability. The other is that the moisture evaporated comes in contact with the water of a container 6 whose temperature is low, and converted into water drops. The water drops come down to the bottom of the container to dilute concentrated sulfuric acid. |
