PURPOSE:To eliminate a diffraction pattern due to dust, a flaw, etc., and to obtain a rainbow hologram of superior picture quality by using luminous flux which are in uniform phase and lighting original pictures at the time of compos ing a plane type holographic stereogram. CONSTITUTION:When the plane type holographic stereogram is composed of many original pictures which have parallex continuously and the rainbow holo gram is further manufactured, a diffusing plate 98 is put at an optional place between an original picture 72 and a lens 68, i.e., a lens 70 and the original picture in this case to diffuse light which illuminates the original picture 72. Consequently, light 106 diffracted by dust 100 forms a diffraction pattern on the diffusing plate 98, but the light is made into light which has a uniform distribution by the diffusing plate when illuminating the original picture 72, so that the diffraction pattern disappears.
