PURPOSE:To obtain a result of page reference interval counTing utilizing effectively all reference interval data after loading a page without requiring a large storage area for the storage of data by storing always the weight mean value between the updated page reference interval and the past page reference interval. CONSTITUTION:When the 1st page reference takes place after loading a page, a difference between a page reference time obtained by a present time counter 14 and a page load time stored in a preceding page reference storage 15 of the corresponding page is taken by a subtractor 19 and the result is used as the updated page reference interval. The weight means between the updated page reference interval and the initial value stored in the page reference interval storage 12 of the corresponding page are obtained by a weight mean value calculation circuit 13. The obtained weight mean value is stored in the page reference interval storage 12 and the initial value stored so far is thrown away.
