PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for interrupting an update processing even in a database system that is continuously updated for a long period by dynamically saving data during the update processing of the database. CONSTITUTION:Updating the contents of the database 1, an update program 2 handle the updated contents to a journal means 12 and permits said means 12 to save them on a journal file 11. It is assumed that during the update processing, a dynamic saving means 13 is activated by an operator's command. The real saving part 22 of the dynamic saving means 13 begins to save data at a part that the operator designates at the time of the activation out of the database 1, in parallel with the update processing by the update program 2. Namely, the data is saved from the prescribed part of the database 1 to a save database 15 through the interval of the access to the database 1 according to the update program 2.
