PURPOSE:To improve the locking and release of locking of the turning of a reel hub by a front cover and to simplify the assembling by placing an operator of a reel brake along the outside of right/left support walls of a cassette case via an operator inserting slot. CONSTITUTION:Arms 11b, 11c of a reel brake 11 are placed to the operator inserting slots 27a, 27b at assembling and the reel brake 11 is loaded to a prescribed position in the cassette case 1 by having only to stack the reel brake 11 on a lower half 3. Thus, the cassette is assembled automatically by an inexpensive machine whose operation is comparatively simple. Further, a front cover 8 is turned in operation and a magnetic tape 6 is exposed, and when a force directed toward the inside of the cassette case 1 only in the right/left direction of the cassette case 1 is given from arms 8a, 8b of the front cover 8 to operators 11g, 11h due to any cause, flexible arms 11b, 11c of the reel brake 11 are supported by a support wall 12. Thus, the lock and lock release of the turning of the reel hubs 4a, 4b by the front cover 8 are improved.
