PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having excellent electrostatic charge preventiveness and durability, high packing density of magnetic powder and excellent recording and reproducing output by constituting a binder of a high-polymer complex. or high-polymer material contg. the high-polymer complex. CONSTITUTION:The binder of the magnetic recording medium having the magnetic layer contg. the magnetic powder and binder on a nonmagnetic substrate is constituted of the high-polymer complex or the high-polymer material contg. the high-polymer complex. The complex obtd. by bringing part or the whole of the cyano group of the high-polymer material contg. the cyano group into reaction with copper sulfide is suitable as such high-polymer complex. A polyacrylonitrile, acrylonitrile/styrene copolymer, etc., are used for the high- polymer material contg. the cyano group. A high-polymer material having no cyano group in the molecule is also usable by incorporating the cyano group therein. A polycarbonate, PVA, etc., are used for such high-polymer material.
