PURPOSE:To obtain a heat-resisting alloy combining remarkably excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion at high temp. with extremely superior wire drawing workability, by providing a composition consisting of prescribed amounts of C, Si, Mn, Cr, Ni, and one or more kinds among rare earth elements and the balance Fe. CONSTITUTION:The titled heat-resisting alloy has a composition consisting of, by weight, <=0.15% C, <=1.5% Si, <=2.0% Mn, 14-28% Cr, 18-75% Ni, 0.005-1.0% of one ore more kinds among rare earth elements (Y, La, Ce, etc.), and the balance Fe. The heat-resisting alloy of this invention is suitable as material for a braided body used as catalyst support for exhaust gas cleanup, protective material for exhaust gas pipe, etc. In that case, this stainless steel can be finally worked into fine wire of <=0.5mm diameter by hot or cold wire drawing working, which can be easily braid-worked to be formed into braided body.
