PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition excellent in heat resistance, water resistance, flexibility and insulation property, by mixing an epoxy resin with a specified dicyclo-pentadiene-modified cresole resin. CONSTITUTION:Dicyclopentadiene (a) and cresol (b) are polymerized together in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst to obtain a curing agent (B) which is a dicyclopentadiene-modified cresol resion of the formula (wherein R is CH3 and n is 0-15). An epoxy resin (A) having at least two epoxy groups per molecule, such as a (non)glycidyl epoxy resin (e.g., oxo cresole novolak epoxy resin), is mixed with component B and, optionally, additives (C) such as carbon fiber, glass fiber, plasticizer, organic solvent, filler, pigment and accelerator (e.g., a heterocyclic amine).
