PURPOSE:To obtain microcapsules having high incorporation ratio of drug efficiently, by adjusting viscosity of W/O type emulsion to a specific value in a process wherein a W/O/W type emulsion is shaped and it is processed into microcapsules by underwater drying method. CONSTITUTION:A water-soluble drug is added to water to give an aqueous solution for inner water phase, which is emulsified into a high polymer- containing solution 9oil phase) to give a W/O type emulsion. In the operation, viscosity of W/O type emulsion is adjusted to about 150-10,000cp, preferably about 150-5,000cp. Then, the W/O emulsion is added to a water phase of the third phase to form a W/O/W type emulsion and the solvent is removed from the oil phase to prepare microcapsules. A main drug is more efficiently incorporated in the capsules than existing microcapsules and fine capsules having uniform spherical shape are obtained. The prepared microcapsules have more improved sustained release than existing ones. |
