PURPOSE:To obtain a butene-1 polymer excellent in flow, particle diameter distribution, stereoregularity, etc., by (co)polymerizing butene-1 in the presence of a catalyst obtained from a specified solid catalyst component, an organo- aluminum compound and an electron donor. CONSTITUTION:An oxide of an element of Group II-IV of the perioric table (e.g., MgO) and/or an inorganic compound oxide containing oxides thereof are allowed to support a magnesium alkoxide and/or a magnesium salt of a fatty acid. The obtained solid is contacted with an electron-donating compound and a titanium halide to produce a solid catalyst component. This solid catalyst component is combined with an organo-aluminum compound and an electron donor to produce a catalyst. Butene-1 is homopolymerized or copolymerized with another olefin (e.g., propylene) to obtain the purpose butene-1 polymer.
