PURPOSE:To obtain the titled optically active substance useful as an intermediate for medicines, etc., by a simple method, by efficiently carrying out optical resolution of an optical isomeric mixture of an <=8-membered cyclic ether compound having asymmetric carbon atom in the ring with a specific optically active diol. CONSTITUTION:An isomeric mixture of an <=8-membered cyclic ether compound having asymmetric carbon atom in the ring is brought into contact with an optically active 1,6-di(halophenyl)-1,6-diphenyl-2,4-hexadiyne-1,6-diol in an organic solvent. One of antipodes in the above-mentioned optical isomeric mixture is included in the above-mentioned optically active diol by the contact to crystallize a complex thereof, which is then separated and resolved to readily afford the aimed optically active substance of the above-mentioned cyclic ether compound useful also as an intermediate for agricultural chemicals, perfumes, liquid crystals, etc., by solving problems of well-known methods as follows; Mass- production at a low cost is difficult. Only one of the antipodes is frequently obtained.
