PURPOSE:To absorb surely a loss stroke by moving freely a shift lever in the operation direction by a prescribed extent with a detaining piece engaged. CONSTITUTION:When a shift lever 1 is operated to engage a detaining piece 10 with an engaging part 14 of a moderating plate 13, a switching piece of an automatic speed change gear is moved in accordance with the manipulated variable of the lever 1. A moving piece 7 joined with the lever 1 into one body and the detaining piece 10 are connected through a spring 11, and the lever is turned furthermore in the operation direction by a prescribed extent with the detaining piece 10 engaged with the part 14, and the loss stroke is absorbed surely to move the switching piece to an accurate position.
