PURPOSE:To obtain highly ductile Al alloy sheet having both strength and dictility, by soaking heat treating Al alloy ingot contg. specified ratios of Si, Mg, Zr, Fe at low temp., rolling then soln. heat treating and quenching. CONSTITUTION:Al alloy ingot contg. 0.5-1.5% Si, 0.5-1.5% Mg, 0.05-0.20% Zr, <=0.25% Fe or further 0.05-1.0% Cu is treated as follows. Namely, the ingot is hot worked at <=500 deg.C, further especially under over saturation state of Zr after or without soaking heat treatment at low temp. of 350-500 deg.C. Next, rolled plate under the state is rolled at <=500 deg.C, then cold rolled by 50-95% through or without intermediate annealing, the sheet is heated to 500-600 deg.C and soln. treatment quenched. In this way, new Al alloy sheet capable of obtaining >=30% high ductility or 40% elongation as good as that of pure Al is obtd.
