NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R1, R2 are H, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy; R3 is 1-6C alkyl). EXAMPLE:1,3-Diphenylpropanetrione-2-oxime. USE:A photopolymerization initiator. It has high storage stability in dark places and high photosetting rate, even when the resists or ink has a strong absorption the near ultraviolet area. PREPARATION:Hydroxylamine or its salt is allowed to react with a compound of formula II or formula III or a mixture thereof to give a compound of formula IV. The product is allowed to react with a compound of formula V (X is halogen) to give the compound of formula I.
