NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R<1> is H, methyl or methoxy; R<2> and R<3> are H or methyl, provided that all R<1> and R<3> are not H). EXAMPLE:2-[2-(3,5-Methyl)pyridylmethylsulfinyl]-5-cyclopropyloxy-benzi midazole. USE:A remedy for gastric or duodenal ulcer without fear of inactivation in storage. PREPARATION:A sulfide compound expressed by formula II, e.g. 2-[2-(3,5- dimethyl)pyridylmethylthio]-5-cyclopropylmethylox-ybenzimidazole, etc., is oxidized with an oxidizing agent, preferably m-chloroperbenzoic acid, in the presence of a reaction solvent, e.g. chloroform, etc., to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I. The compound expressed by formula II can be produced by condensing a thiol compound expressed by formula III with a pyridine compound expressed by formula IV in the presence of a base. |
