NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (X<1> is halogen; X<2> is H, halogen; X<3> is halogen, trifluoromethyl; R<1>, R<2> are lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, lower alkinyl, or they may incorporate to form ring-ethylene). USE:Herbicide. It shows strong herbicidal activity against broad-leaf weeds in water rice paddies and crop fields. It has selectivity to rice plant, corn and wheat and manifests its effect with reduced dose. PREPARATION:The reaction of a compound of formula II with another compound of R<2>-X (X is halogen) is carried out in a solvent of DMF in the presence of a base such as potassium carbonate at room temperature to 80 deg.C to give the compound of formula I.
