PURPOSE:To stably treat a gas contg. combustible components for a long period by passing the gas through a rotary regenerative heat-exchange body to heat the gas, then bringing the gas into contact with an oxidation catalyst, and bringing the gas further heated by the oxidation heat again into contact with the oxidation catalyst to regeneration the catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The exhaust gas contg. combustible components such as solvent and CO is passed through a heat receiving fluid-side passage A of a heat accumulating body 36 which is formed into a honeycomb structure and can be freely rotated, and heated. The gas is then passed through the inlet-side oxidation catalyst 39 and the combustibles are mostly oxidized. The exhaust gas heated by the oxidation heat is reversed in a header 40 and passed through the outlet- side oxidation catalyst. The SO2, etc., deposited on the catalyst are desorbed, and the catalyst is regenerated. The gas is passed through the heat radiating fluid-side passage to heat the heat accumulating body. Besides, the heat receiving side and the heat radiating side are successively alternated by the rotation of a rotating shaft 34, and the leakage of the fluid is prevented by a partition structure 38.
