PURPOSE:To obtain an immunogloblun having higher safety than conventional product, by treating crude gamma-globulin fraction with an immobilized carrier produced by bonding a compound such as aminobenzamidine, basic amino acid, etc., to a water-insoluble carrier through covalent bond, thereby removing kallikrein from the crude fraction. CONSTITUTION:A crude gamma-globulin fraction is treated with an immobilized carrier produced by bonding a compound selected from aminobenzamidine, aminophenylguanidine and basic amino acid to a water-insoluble carrier (e.g. cellulose, agarose, etc.) through covalent bond. An example of commercially available immobilized carrier is benzamidine-sepharose 6B (product of Pharmacia Labs., Inc.). The treatment is carried out preferably at 6-8pH and a salt- concentration of 0.01-0.2M. Immunoglobulin is exclusively left in the unadsorbed fraction in high efficiency and prekallikrein and kallikrein are adsorbed to said carrier. The anticomplementary value can be lowered and the obtained immunoglobulin has higher safety than conventional product and can be applied by intravenous injection.
