923,988. Belt gearing. PIC DESIGN CORPORATION. June 29, 1961 [July 22, 19601, No. 23584/61. Class 80 (1). A belt for use in gearing comprises a body 2 with lateral projections 4, moulded integrally from a plastic material. The belt may be reinforced by embedded fibre glass, nylon, cable, &c. 6 therein. The lateral projections 4 engage between two sets of teeth 16, 16a formed at the sides of pulleys 8 having central grooves 18 upon which the body 2 of the belt is supported. In one application of the belt to gearing, Fig. 1 (not shown), a driving gear-wheel meshes the teeth 16 of an input pulley and the belt runs over three similar pulleys of different sizes, any of which may be used as a driven pulley. In another application, Fig. 2 (also not shown), the axis of an input pulley connected by a belt according to the invention to an output pulley is perpendicular to the axis of the latter. |
