Banding 7 for hooping compressible packages and bales 6 is provided at each of its ends with coupling means formed by angled incisions 8 and bent out portions 9 and 10 which can be coupled together by hand, at least one of the incisions of each coupling means being widened. As shown the widening is effected by providing narrow gaps 11 and bending the portion 9 and 10 to opposite sides of the band. In another arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown), the incisions are tapered towards their closed ends. In a further arrangement Fig. 5, (not shown) the reduced portion of the portion 10 is repeated at the other end of the portion 10. The incisions may be widened by deforming the portion 8 and/or 9. The coupling means may be provided at intervals along the whole length of the banding and two or more coupling means may be provided side-by-side at each end of the banding. |
