PURPOSE:To easily read the flow of a series of documents by a simple operation, by constituting the titled device so that the contents of a display screen can be rewritten to the contents containing a line head of a line after one line of a line in which a cursor is being displayed at present, in accordance with an instruction from an input device. CONSTITUTION:When a 'next line' instruction key 14 is inputted, input information of the 'next line' instruction key 14 is transmitted from the whole controller 5, and a display controller 7 confirms a cursor position by seeing the contents of the present cursor display position register. Subsequently, the display controller 7 reads out the document contents of the (A+1)-line from a temporary memory device 3, and executes the retiring of a display head character register in order to rewrite the contents of a display screen. Also, in order to rewrite the cursor position, the cursor display position register is set to [(A+1)-th line . the first character], and the contents of the display screen are brought to a rewriting control.
