PURPOSE:To execute copying which has erased an optional part of an original image by simple constitution and operation, by converting a coloring material of a boundary of a set erasion range to an electric signal, discriminating the erasion range, and erasing the corresponding latent image from an image carrying body. CONSTITUTION:In accordance with an operation of an original read key, and an erasion key, a coloring material of blue, etc. of a boundary of an erasion range of an area designating original is read and converted to an electric signal by a CCD 174, and also, an A/D-converted signal is written to a memory 194 through a main processor 71, a DMA 193, etc. Based on this write contents, erasing information of H, etc. is stored in a memory 140 in accordance with an address of the erasion range by a processor group 71. Subsequently, a latent image of the erasion range, which is formed on an image carrying body from an original image from an original image in accordance with a copying key operation is erased by exposure from an erasion array 150 in accordance with an array driving part 160 which reacts to the erasing information of the memory 140.
