PURPOSE:To markedly increase recording processing speed, by superposing the driving periods of means for respectively performing relative movement in first and second directions. CONSTITUTION:The recording data transmitted from a host apparatus is once stored in RAM9 provided as a buffer memory and a control part 3 successively records the data transmitted from the host apparatus and stored in RAM9 according to operation input from a display/operation part 2 using a recording mechanism 4. The reception of the data transmitted from the host apparatus in the buffer memory is performed in parallel to recording processing by an interface part 1. The recording mechanism 4 is constituted of a recording head 5, a carriage motor 6 for reciprocatingly moving a carriage having the recording head 5 mounted thereto in the first direction of a recording medium and a line feed motor 7 for moving the recording medium in the direction at a right angle to the first direction to perform line feed. Control is performed so that not only the main scanning start of the recording head and the finish of line feed but also the start of line feed and the finish period of carriage scanning are overlapped to increase a recording speed. |
