PURPOSE:To attain to enhance printing quality by making it possible to express an image having gradation by the gathering of dots without using an ink ribbon, by providing a printing hammer performing the selective impact driving of each block of an endless body on the basis of the control signal corresponding to 2<n> gradation of a printing image in parallel to the movement of a carriage. CONSTITUTION:Belts 3a-3f each being an endless body are respectively arranged at an equal interval with respect to the moving direction of a carriage 1 and the number corresponding to a wt of 2<n> of that is, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2 and 1 projections 8 are respectively integrally arranged to the outer peripheries of the belts 3a-3f to form blocks 8a-8f. The belts 3a-3f are arranged at positions where the printing positions of the projections 8 are not overlapped. Printing hammers 9 driven by exciting electromagnets 10 are respectively arranged inside the belts 3a-3f and the blocks 8a-8f formed to the outer peripheries of the belts receive impact from the back sides of the belts in predetermined timing. |
