<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a handy optical reader with good operability by using a scanner having an image sensor to have the visibility of plural characters written in the form, for example, one raw. CONSTITUTION:A control/binarization circuit 7 converts an analog signal, which is the output signal of an image sensor 6, to a binarization signal respectively corresponding to a character area and a background area and sends it to a memory 8. Into the image 8, the binarization signal of the whole visibility of the image sensor is stored. From the binarization signal stored into the memory 8, a recognizing and processing is executed, and here, only the binarization signal, in which the character is correctly in the sight, is recognized and processed. When scanning is executed while the character is protruded from a sight 17, by scanning with the image sensor 6 again accompanied by the shifting of a scanner 1, binary-coding and storing the binarization signal to the memory 8, the reading speed is improved. A scanning position detecting circuit 9 judges whether or not the recognition processing is executed.</p> |
