<p>The stamping press has a mumber of upper tools(23) which cooperate with a corresponding number of lower tools(25). The press is also fitted with a device(51) for clamping and feeding the sheetmetal workpiece (W) between the two sets of tools. To prevent the workpiece colliding with the lower set of tools, these tools are mounted in sloping guides and held in their working position by a toggle actuated by a power cylinder. During the period in which the workpiece (W) is fed forwards the lower tools are withdrawn down the sloping guide so that they lie below the level of the workpiece.</p> |
