PURPOSE:To obtain the titled gasket at low cost using readily and inexpensively available raw materials, by mixing powder comprising pyrophyllite, talc and alumina cement with water, performing pressurized molding followed by curing at temperatures below a specified level. CONSTITUTION:Powder comprising (A) as a malleability-ductility-affording agent, pref. 10-60wt% of pyrophyllite, (B) as a pressure sealability-affording agent, pref. 10-60wt% of talc, and (C) as a binder, pref. 10-50wt% of alumina cement is mixed with (D) pref. 3-40wt% of either water or its mixture with a polymeric binder (e.g. starch) to carry out pressurized molding. Following that, the resulting product is cured at <=900 deg.C to obtain the objective gasket.
