PRODUCTION OF HYDROGEN

摘要

PURPOSE:To economicall produce hydrogen by mixing titanium dioxide powder with silicon powder, dispersing the mixture in an aqueous soln. contg. ethanol and irradiating light. CONSTITUTION:Titanium dioxide and silicon are pulverized so that titanium dioxide powder is mixed with silicon powder in 0.1-10 weight ratio. It is preferable that the titanium dioxide and silicon are partially reduced beforehand by heating in vacuum or in a flow of hydrogen. The mixture is dispersed in an aqueous soln. contg. ethanol in a transparent vessel, and light is irradiated on the resulting dispersion liq. to generate hydrogen.
