PURPOSE:To manufacture members of a high temp. and high pressure steam turbine having superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking, superior toughness and superior strength at high temp. by using a heat resistant austenitic steel having a specified composition. CONSTITUTION:A heat resistant austenitic steel contg. by weight, <0.02% C, <0.5% Si, <2.0% Mn, 20-50% Ni, 10-20% Cr, 1.0-4% Mo, 0.1-0.5% V, 0.15-4.0% Ti, 0.3-1.0% Al, 0.001-0.01% B, <0.1% Zr and 0.001-0.1% N or further contg. 0.5-2.0% Nb is used as a material for parts of a high temp. and high pressure steam turbine used in a power plant, e.g., turbine blades and bolts. Since the steel has superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking, superior toughness and superior strength at high temp., it is suitable for use in the manufacture of such parts of the steam turbine using steam at high temp. and pressure.
