A clip, made of two sheet-steel parts which can slide one inside the other due to the shaping, in particular for use as a combined shirt and trouser holder, is characterised in that the two sheet-steel parts can slide in parallel one inside the other from stop to stop due to the shaping. The clip is fastened from the inside horizontally in the lower region of the trouser waistband. When the clip has been opened, the button-hole strip of the shirt is inserted, doubled with a small bend, into the slot of the central plate until it passes over the tip of the narrow web of the slide piece such that, after insertion of the slide piece and alignment of the material, the clip has a firm seat. The opening of the clip is brought about by slight pressure against the tip and pulling-out of the slide piece.
