PURPOSE:To narrow space intervals so as to improve a head exchange function and speed by arranging the exchange arm of a multi-spindle head, a hanging type transport member, a storage magazine and a sending-in and out conveyor three dimensionally on above and behind a column head. CONSTITUTION:Multi spindle heads H1-H6 are supplied to a standby position A2 through a sending-in and out conveyor C0 from a conveyor 50, heads H1 and H2 are mounted above a column head 3 and an exchange arm 60 by the use of said arm 60 through a transfer member 70 and an exchange position A3, and heads H3-H6 are mounted in a magazine HM through a hanging type transport member 80 and a replacement position A1. The column head 3 is retreated after the end of work, the head H1 is replaced with the head H2, the head H1 is mounted in the magazine HM through the transport member 80 and the head H3 is mounted on the arm 60 through the transport member 80, the standby position A2, the transfer member 70, and the exchange position A3 from the magazine HM. Accordingly, an exchange can be prepared in the time of machining, and a required area can be saved.
