PURPOSE:To increase the degree of freedom for the layout of a gear train by furnishing two sets of speed change gears on one side of a synchromesh device, and applying it to the case where either left or right of the synchromesh device has no margin. CONSTITUTION:The power from a sub-transmission 5 is fed to the input shaft 31 of a main transmission 6, and each speed-changed power is fed to the output shaft 44 to be further transmitted to either of the front and rear wheels after a differential device 7. In case a transfer device 9 is on the right, the others of said front and rear wheels are isolated to provide two-wheel driving. In case the transfer device 9 is in engagement, on the other hand, the power on the output shaft 44 is transmitted to provide four-wheel driving. Therefore, the speed change gears are arranged on a single side of a synchromesh device, that enables application even where either has no margin, to lead to enhancement of the degree of freedom for the layout of a gear train.
