PURPOSE:To stably run a strip at a high speed without grazing the strip by providing strip floaters to a continuous annealing furnace, floating the strip with an ejected gas, supporting the same without contacting and changing the traveling direction of the strip. CONSTITUTION:The strip floaters each consisting of a floater body 2 which is fixed with a support 24 to a heat insulating material 26 of the furnace and has a nozzle 4 are disposed to the traveling change points of the strip 1 of the continuous annealing furnace which runs the metallic strip 1 while changing the traveling direction thereof many times in the longitudinal or transverse direction and executes continuous annealing of the strip. The gas supplied from a blower 23 via a supply pipe 21 is ejected from the above-mentioned nozzles 4. A static pressure is generated on the pressure receiving surface 3 of the strip 1 by the ejected gas, by which the tension acting on the strip 1 and the strip's own weight are supported. The strip 1 is thus run without contacting and the traveling direction thereof is changed.
