PURPOSE:To obtain a high strength Al alloy material for forming causing no surface roughening by forming by subjecting an Al-Mg-Si alloy to homogenizing, rolling and soln. heat treatment, producing a proper strain in the resulting plate and softening the plate. CONSTITUTION:An Al-Mg-Si alloy ingot is homogenized by heating at 540 deg.C for 24hr and hot rolled at 500 deg.C to form a plate of 5mm thickness. This plate is cold rolled to 2mm final thickness and subjected to soln. heat treatment by heating to 470-570 deg.C, holding at the temp. and rapid cooling to allow Mg and Si to enter into a solid soln. in the Al matrix. The plate is then worked at 20-40% rate and softened at 340-500 deg.C. An Al-Mg-Si alloy material for forming having a fine and uniform recrystallized structure and causing no surface roughening after final forming is obtd.
