PURPOSE:To maintain the performance of wear resistant parts for a long period by using an Fe-base sintered alloy contg. uniformly dispersed fine grains of hard carbides as the material of the parts requiring high wear resistance under high surface pressure. CONSTITUTION:An Fe-base sintered alloy having a composition consisting of, by weight, 3.1-5.5% C, 12-25% Cr, 2-10% Mo, 1-5% Mn and the balance Fe or further contg. 1-5% Si and/or 0.1-10% Co and/or Ni is used as a wear resistant Fe-base sintered alloy suitable for the manufacture of the wear resistant parts of an internal combustion engine such as the tip of each rocker arm, the sliding part of each valve lifter and each cam piece. The sintered alloy has a structure contg. uniformly dispersed fine grains of hard Cr and Mo carbides having 2-20mum average grain size by 35-70vol%. The relative density of the alloy is >=95% and the alloy shown remarkably superior wear resistance by the presence of the hard metallic carbides.
