The device consists of a probe 1 which receives, on a steatite support, all the deposits resulting from wear in the brushes or the commutator, or deposits of water, oil and metal shavings outside the motor. The variation in resistance resulting from this is transmitted through a shielded cable 2 to a differential amplifier 3 which enables the zero to be adjusted. This is followed by a threshold detector (Schmitt trigger) 4, which adjusts the "defect" level and is itself followed by an interface circuit 5 making the information about defects compatible with usage. The device is particularly useful as part of a system of predictive maintenance by monitoring the wear in the bushes or the level of humidity and pollution harmful to a variable speed motor unit.

|
