PURPOSE:To prevent a coolant from splashing on the heating side and to remarkably improve the cooling capacity by using a crossflow type nozzle as a cooling nozzle and setting an air seal member in the upstream side of the nozzle. CONSTITUTION:A cooling nozzle 2 consists of an annular coolant room 3 surrounding a wire body 1, annular jetting nozzle 5 oriented at an angle less than 90 deg. to the wire body 1, and a cylindrical passage 7 being ahead of the nozzle 5. An air seal member 12 having an air jetting room 8 is set on the inlet side for the wire body 1. In that structure, a coolant supply pipe 4 supplies a cooling medium such as oil or water and a pressure air supply pipe 9 jets air. Thus, the coolant is surely prevented from splashing on the heating side and no centrifugal force is generated regardless of an increased coolant flow rate because the cooling nozzle 2 is a crossflow type, so that a coolant flow can be increased to improve the cooling capacity.
