发明名称 TWO-LIGHT-SOURCE OPTICAL FIBER SENSOR
摘要 PURPOSE:To maintain measuring operation without any break even if one measurement system becomes faulty by using two measurement systems which use linear polarized light waves having their directions of polarization at right angles. CONSTITUTION:Beams from light emitting elements 20A and 20B are passed through beam splitters 24A and 24B, polarizers 28A and 28B, etc., multiplexed by a beam splitter 30, and further branched by a beam splitter 32 into two, which are coupled with both ends of a polarization plane maintaining optical fiber 34. Then, the polarizers 28A and 28B are so arranged as to transmit mutually orthogonal linear polarized light beams, and the two orthogonal linear polarized light beams are therefore incident on both ends of the fibers 34. Then, the beams propagated clockwise and counterclockwise in the fiber 34 travel in the opposite order and are reflected by the splitters 24A and 24B and inputted to driving and signal processing circuits 22A and 22B through light receiving elements 38A and 38B. Further, an angular velocity signal indicating a phase difference generated at a sensor coil 36 is obtained from the electric outputs of the elements 38A and 38B. Therefore, even if one measurement system becomes faulty, the other system takes a measurement without any break.
