PURPOSE:To obtain a bearing liner having good characteristics by a method wherein thermosetting easy-slipping silicone resin is spread on a polyethylene naphthalate film whose surface roughness and specific resistance upon melting are within some specified range. CONSTITUTION:Thermosetting silicone resin is spread on a biaxially oriented polyethylene naphthalate film having the average roughness of 0.008-0.08mum at the centerline of the surface of the film and the specific resistance upon melting of 5X10<10>OMEGA-cm or less at the rate of 0.01-0.5g/m<2> to form a transparent bearing liner for a cassette tape. The unit of constitution of the polyethylene naphthalate is a polymer consisting of the unit of ethylene-2,6-naphthalate, and the intrinsic viscosity is preferable to be higher than 0.04 or preferably 0.45-0.90. Easy-slipping silicone resin is manufactured as silicione resin varnish by condensation from organochlorosilane through organochlorosilanol.
