PURPOSE:To increase yield of paddy rice plant such as KOSHI-HIKARI, NIHON-BARE, etc., by applying 1-triacontanol to the leaf or root of a paddy rice plant at a specific stage during the growing stage of the plant. CONSTITUTION:1-Triacontanol (abbreviated as TRIA) of formula CH3(CH2)28CH2 OH which is extremely hardly soluble in water is dispersed in water at a concentration of >=0.2ppb and usually <=1,000ppb and the dispersion is applied directly to the leaf, stalk or root of a paddy rice plant or indirectly to the root through soil at the initial stage in a paddy field and/or at a nursery stage. The above dispersion is preferably produced in a manner that the TRIA is dispersed in the form of extremely small particles and maintained in high stability. Various emulsifiers such as tallow alkyl sulfate, etc., are used for the production of the above dispersion. A spreader is also used as a component of the dispersion to facilitate the adhesion of the active component to the leaf, stalk or root of the paddy rice plant. The dispersion is applied at a rate of 2-500l to 100m<2> of the field to be treated in 1 or >=2 divided doses.
