PURPOSE:To automate rear-light photography and to eliminate an error in the photography by comparing the levels of the output signals of the 1st and the 2nd photosensors provided almost in front of and above a camera body with each other and generating a rear-light detection signal when the former is a specific value larger than the latter. CONSTITUTION:The camera receives light in a normal lighting state more intensely from in front of than from above, so the level of the output signal of the 2nd photosensor 42 provided above is higher than the level of the output signal of the 1st photosensor 40 provided in the front and a comparator, therefore, generates no rear-light detection signal. In a rear-light state, on the other hand, the light from the front is intenser than the light from above (ambient light) and then the output signal of the 1st photosensor 40 becomes higher in level than the output signal of the 2nd photosensor 42, so that the comparator 44 generates the rear-light detection signal. Intense electronic flash light is emitted in response to the rear-light detection signal and a white balance adjustment and a stop adjustment are made correspondingly, so that a natural color photograph or image is obtained even by rear-light photography.
