PURPOSE:To display a color picture, to attain a compact size and a light weight and to exhibit a large screen by using two sheets of liquid crystal panels on which color filter layers are formed, and displaying a picture for the left eye on one of the panels and a picture for the right eye on the other panel. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal panels 9, 10 for the right eye and the left eye on which the color filter layers are formed so as to intersect orthogonally polarizing axes of light transmitting the two sheets of the liquid crystal panels. Chrominance signals are reproduced respectively from a video signal 46 for the left eye and a video signal 47 for the right eye in a signal processing circuit 48, converted into a signal suitable for driving the liquid crystal panel in a signal converting circuit 49 and inputted to an X driver circuit 53. Then, the output of the circuit 53 is connected to the source line of the panels 9 and 10 to generate a voltage corresponding to picture data, and a Y driver circuit 54 is connected to a gate line to select and drive the gate line for display. Thereby, polarizing glasses are used to observe not only a black and white picture but also the color picture and the large screen can be exhibited with the compact and light device. |
