A tuning control system for a klystron comprises a D.C. motor connected to the tuning shaft of the klystron. A transducer derives a voltage dependent on the position of the tuning shaft and this is used together with a reference voltage to drive a control circuit for the D.C. motor. A coincidence signal is produced every time the difference between the position voltage and the reference voltage becomes zero and the number of coincidences is counted. After a predetermined number is counted the drive direction of the D.C. motor is switched so that the D.C. motor is turned a little in the opposite direction for a very short period of time. After that normal operation to reduce the error voltage to zero resumes. As the adjustment of the tuning shaft is only in one direction any backlash that may occur has no adverse effect.
|
