PURPOSE:To achieve a higher sensitivity of a high frequency magnetic field generator/detector, by a method wherein a variable capacitor is connected in a balance type to a high frequency coil to match impedance and the impedance is converted to an unbalanced impedance with a balance-unbalance converter. CONSTITUTION:A high frequency coil 1 is provided with a pair of conducting loop elements 1a and a pair of conducting segments 1b. The pair of conducting segments 1b are provided with a capacitor 5a and a variable capacitor 2a. Variable capacitors 2b and 2c for matching and adjusting impedance are connected to respective ends of the variable capacitor 2a to compose a balanced type impedance matching circuit 2. A balance/unbalance converter 4, for example, a coaxial cable with the electric length equivalent to a half wavelength is connected to the matching circuit 2. Then, a high frequency transmitter/ receiver is connected to a terminal 3. Thus, as a variable capacitor is connected in a balance type to match impedance and further, the impedance is converted to an unbalance impedance with a balance-unbalance converter, a higher efficiency and stability of a high frequency magnetic field generator/detector can be achieved.
