The substrate to be treated (in the case of an aerobic fermentation) (6) is introduced inside one or a plurality of hollow fibers (2) forming a first filtration membrane through which passes a portion of the substrate to be treated which comes in contact of microorganisms fixed at the neighbouring of a series of gas permeation fibers (3), forming a second discontinuous filtration membrane, supplying air (7) required for the metabolism of the microorganisms; the products obtained by fermentation pass inside the fibers (4) forming the third discontinuous filtration membrane and leave the assembly as an effluent (8). The products remaining between the membranes form the flow (9) which is subjected to an internal recycling.
