PURPOSE:To obtain an artificial slate compsn. which gives an appearance of a natural product, has excellent lightweightness, acid resistance, etc. and a allows a long article to be produced, by blending a synthetic resin with a particulate matter composed of an inorg. material-filled synthetic resin and glass fiber. CONSTITUTION:An artificial slate compsn. consists of 50-30wt. synthetic resin, 60-94wt% particulate matter composed of an inorg. material-filled synthetic resin, 1-10wt% glass fiber and 0-15wt% filler. Crushed powders of granite or marble can be used together with said particulate matter. When crushed granite or marble is used, the compsn. consists of 5-30wt% synthetic resin, 40-80wt% particulate matter, 3-40wt% crushed granite or marble, 1-10wt% glass fiber and 0-15wt% filler. As the synthetic resin, transparent to semitransparent polyesters having excellent heat resistance and moldability are preferred.
