PURPOSE:To make control of treatment operation easy by providing a denitrifying tank in the front flow of an OD tank in such a way that the capacities of both tanks are set up at a specific ratio, refluxing water to be treated from the OD tank to the denitrifying tank and denitrifying. CONSTITUTION:Raw water is sent from a tube 4 to a denitrifying tank 1 where refluxing liquid from an OD tank 2 through a tube 7 and activated sludge returning from a sedimentation tank 3 are mixed and methanol as nutrient source is added, and the same turns into a treated liquid denitrifying double quantity of raw water and flowed continuously into the OD tank 2. In the OD tank 2, nitration is carried out and nitrated liquid flows through a tube 6 to turn into returning liquid, and the rest separates sludge in the sedimentation tank 3. Then, supernatant is drained out from the system. The ratio of the capacity of denitrifying tank 1 and that of OD tank 2 is preferably 1:2-6. By said arrangement, easy control and safe operation are provided.
