APPARATUS FOR SEPARATING AND CONCENTRATING CO

PURPOSE:To perform efficient stripping, by supplying a CO absorbing liquid preheated to predetermined temp. into a flashing tank to liberate CO and evaporating the reflux of toluene vapor accompanied to return toluene to the flashing tank. CONSTITUTION:An absorbing liquid containing CuCl, tris(dimethylamino) phosphine oxide (HMPA) and toluene absorbs CO while the absorbing liquid having absorbed CO is heated to temp. near the liberation temp. of CO but equal to or less than the hydrolytic temp. of HMPA by a heat exchanger 3 and a heater 6 and reduced in its pressure by a pressure reducing valve 7 to be supplied to a stripper 4 where the greater part of CO is liberated. Because toluene vapor is also contained in the liberated gas, said toluene vapor is condensed and recovered by a condenser 10 while the condensate is separated into toluene and water by a drain separator 11 and refluxed toluene is evaporated by a reboiler 5 to be sprayed in the gaseous phase above the tower bottom liquid of the stripper 4 as a CO stripping medium from a spray nozzle 13.
