PURPOSE:To attain detection for presence or absence as well as the size even with a transparent record disk by providing through holes corresponding to the record size at a part of a cover provided inside a record player cover and at the same time arraying optical elements at both sides of the cover and the main body of a record disk detector together with a light shielding member set at the cover side respectively. CONSTITUTION:When an opaque record disk 6 is put on a turntable 3, the light shielding members 18a, 18b and 18c are held at temporary holding through holes 19a, 19b and 19c respectively. The areas between light sources 15a, 15b and 15c and photoelectric transducers 17a, 17b and 17c are shielded the light in accordance with sizes to detect the presence or absence of the disk 6 as well as the size of the disk 6. In the case of a transparent disk 6, the members 18a-18c are inserted to through holes 16a, 16b and 16c of a cover 13 in accordance with the size of the disk 6 to secure artificially a fact that an opaque disk 6 is set. As a result, it is possible even with a transparent disk 6 to detect its presence and its size like an opaque disk 6. |
