PURPOSE:To extend useful life by forming a uniform magnetized pattern on a magnetic layer of a toner carrier, uniformly sticking electrostatically charged magnetic toner to the surface of the magnetic layer, partially degaussing or reducing the magnetized pattern, and transferring toner to a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The uniform magnetic pattern is formed on the magnetic layer 1c of the toner carrier 1. The magnetic toner 8 is magnetically adsorbed to the surface of the magnetic layer 1c in a toner feeding part 7. At that time, the magnetic toner 8 is charged by a doctor blade 7a in the toner feeding part 7. In case a laser beam 12 scans the toner carrier 1, the irradiated part of the magnetic layer 1c is heated like a spot, and the magnetism of the spot part is degaussed or reduced, the toner 8 is released from magnetic restriction force due to the magnetic layer 1c, dispersed to a transfer roller electrode 9 by the force due to an electrostatic field and sticked to the recording medium 13 like a dot. Consequently, the useful life can be extended.
